Casino employees accused of aiding prostitution ring 3/26/2004 (John Curran, AP) ATLANTIC CITY -- A prostitution ring that recruited Asian women and sold their services to casino high rollers has been broken up with the arrests of seven people, six of them casino employees who allegedly drummed up business for the women, authorities said. An eighth person also faces charges, federal prosecutors said Thursday. The ring enlisted women from Malaysia and other Far East nations to work as prostitutes in brothels and several Atlantic City casinos, charging $200 or more per session to gamblers who obtained their services through the casino's employees. The women, who knew what they were recruited for, worked in brothels in Philadelphia, New York, Boston and Washington, D.C., during the week and were dispatched to Atlantic City on weekends, Deputy U.S. Attorney Lee Solomon said. None of the approximately two dozen women was charged, nor were any customers. The casinos weren't identified by prosecutors, but six employees who were charged work or worked at Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, Resorts Atlantic City, Bally's Atlantic City and Showboat Casino-Hotel, according to New Jersey Casino Control Commission records. The casinos were not involved in the ring and didn't benefit from it, Solomon said. He would not say whether they knew it was happening. Full Story
